Katja Strunz

Katja Strunz is an artist renowned for her installations, collages, paintings and sculptural works that delve into themes of time, space and memory. Born in 1970 in Ottweiler, Germany, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe and is currently based in Berlin.

In her work, the forms of falling and folding metaphorically represent a post-traumatic compression of space and time, the collapse of here and there, now and then. Constructed splinters and corners, folded triangles and spaces, appear like violently shattered fragments. Strunz’s work interrogates the collapse of temporal and spatial structures, focusing on the fluid boundaries between past, present, and future.
