Maja Ruznic

Maja Ruznic’s layered paintings rarely begin with a defined concept but rather unfold and take shape during the process. Blending abstraction and figuration, her work explores themes of the subconscious, memory, and the body. With fluid lines and expressive use of color, she evokes a sense of both personal and collective history, reflecting on loss and healing.

Shewas recently part of the Whitney Biennial titled Even Better Than the Real Thing, at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Her work is held in the collections of the Musée d’art modern, Paris; Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, California; Dallas Art Museum; EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Espoo, Finland; Harwood Museum of Art, Taos, New Mexico; Jiménez–Colón Collection, Puerto Rico; Portland Art Museum, Oregon; Rachofsky House, Dallas; and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
