On the back of a paper bearing the letterhead “Hochschule Der Bildenden Künste
Hamburg,” artist and professor Franz Erhard Walther transcribed directions in blue ink
to the Greek restaurant Taverna Omiros. He and his students planned to meet there to
celebrate the annual Rundgang, marking the end of the school year. Arriving late that
evening, after a little odyssey, student Christian Jankowski revisited the professor‘s
directions and corrected a street name in red ink. Given Jankowski’s current role as an
artist and professor, the carpet serves as a fitting homage to the collaborative teacherstudent
relationship.
